Pages from the Philips

Its 12:30 at night and both Melissa and I have decided to be late night owls tonight and risk our sleep by staying up way too late since the kids will be up in 6-7 hours like clockwork.  I’m officially now a 3rd year resident at Parkland and Karuna is now officially a 6 year old.  Karuna had a great party about a week ago celebrating her 6th birthday with many of our friends and family.  Per Karuna’s choice we had pizza from a local pizza place called Oak Cliff Pizza and it was an instant hit.

Karuna was throughly surprised for her birthday because Melissa’s sister Kris came into town and spent half a week hanging out with us – the kids especially liked having an extra person to read with and play with.  Work has been going well – the 2nd year residents seem to have picked up just in stride as they took over their sections of the ER as of July 1st and one of my second years, Trent, ran his first code today and amazingly well at that!

We have been soaked with rain for the past few days which has been a welcome reprieve for Texas weather and our garden since we had not received rain in almost a month.  I think that is about all the happenings for the past few weeks – I’m still trying to get caught up with pictures from last year.  I have posted three more albums from the past year.
