Just a Quick Update and Pictures

31 Mar

I think it has been over a month since we last updated the blog…we wanted to make sure people didn’t think we fell off the face of the earth!  We are doing well although I’m right now in the midst of two weeks of nights and so that has my schedule pretty messed up and disconnected from the rest of the world.  Vivek will be two months tomorrow!  He has been growing well although his sleep habits still leave much to be desired for Melissa with plenty of nights when he is up three to four times in an evening.

This month I’ve been at the Children’s hospital which has been a good experience so far although some of the patients that I meet and their stories are just heartbreaking.  I’ll write another post soon just about patients I’ve met there over the past couple of weeks.  Our big project around the house has been getting our garden up and going.  We have been working over the last two months on getting the soil prepared and making a raised planting bed to plant vegetables for this year.  So far we have planted a couple of types of beans, peas, red onions, lettuce, tomato, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, strawberries, asparagus and raspberries.  We are still working on getting cucumber and watermelon plants in our garden.  We’ll see how successful this garden is in a couple more weeks when our lettuce should be ready to harvest.

This has been a great activity for Luke and Karuna because they get to play in the dirt and be outside most of the day.  It has been fun for them to watch the plants grow and each day they keep asking if they can start eating the stuff from the garden.  The other plants that have started producing for us have been the strawberries although it appears that squirrels have eaten every ripe strawberry we have had so far.  We just finished putting up netting around the strawberry patch to keep the squirrels out and Melissa reports that last night they were quite angry over the new net around their pantry.

We are getting ready to make a couple of big road trips soon.  This Thursday we travel to San Antonio for an emergency medicine conference and to see several of our friends there.  After that trip a week later we will drive out to North Carolina to pick up Melissa’s cousin Jory and then drive to Florida so that we can visit Melissa’s sister Jenny and her husband Ryan.

We wanted to also put up some pictures from my cousin Sandy’s wedding that happened two weeks ago.  We had a great time seeing lots of family and celebrating with Sandy and Jibu on their wedding day.  You can view the pictures by clicking the pictures below or just click the view slide-show link.  Have a wonderful week.

    Hello Philip Family

The pictures are wonderful. You really captured the emotions of the day. Weddings are such a wonderful time to be with family and friends.

We are jealous of the garden. Let’s see its 23 degrees here this morning with a high of 40 degrees. We have a winter storm warning for Saturday night. We know there are warmer days coming sometime this year:)

We are still in adoption motions and dismissals. We pray this all will be done by the middle of next month. We can apply for finalization at that point if everything plays out. So please keep praying for our little Ms Norah.

    God’s Blessings jamie and ryan
