We’re all packed up to leave for Michigan this morning to visit Christo’s sister, Chrisly, who works for Kellogg in Battle Creek, Michigan. We’re so glad that I’ve got a week off during my labor & delivery month so that we can have time together as a family and to enjoy time with Chrisly in Michigan as we explore the Lake Michigan area along with visiting Kellogg where rumor has it that the kiddos will get to see Tony the Tiger. Please keep us in your prayers as we travel because Luke has been sick with some type of viral gastroenteritis and he was throwing up all last night and we are praying that we can make it through this trip without others in our family getting sick.
My first week on Labor & Delivery has gone well and I’ve started to get used to being up on my feet and working constantly for 12 hours at a time after being on toxicology last month. So far I think I’m to a little over ten deliveries on my own over the last five days. Parkland’s OB department is legendary in the medical community because of the sheer number of patients that deliver there per year and so far my experience has been consistent with what I had heard. On my first night there I believe there were at least 20+ women on just the labor & delivery high risk area in some phase of labor.
Because we’ve got to leave for our trip I’ll keep this post short but I’ve gotten behind on posting pictures and so I’ll post a bunch today. As always just click the links below to watch the slideshow or you can click on individual pictures below to view them one by one and just use your arrow to key to navigate between the pictures. The last set of pictures from the emergency department are ones that the residency program had asked me to take to represent our program at the national conference - sort of like my first commissioned work!
