Birthdays and Some Final Pictures from India…

28 Jun

Good Saturday evening to all of you reading our blog.  We just finished a day with lots of friends and family as we got together to celebrate Karuna’s 4th birthday.  Karuna had a Princess themed birthday party and she got to enjoy some great chocolate/peanut butter cupcakes that Melissa had made for her.  By the time the party finally wound down tonight around 7 PM we had entertained almost 30 guests that had come to celebrate her birthday with her.  This was a pretty long week for Christo with many days of training as Christo got ready to start his intern year as an emergency medicine resident at Parkland.  Most of the days were filled with endless lectures on policy, requirements, and training courses to make sure all the residents were up to speed.  In the evenings we worked to finally finish almost all the painting in the downstairs area and to finish the last of the trim on the bookcases.  On Wednesday evening Christo’s parents came over to celebrate Karuna’s birthday by going out to dinner at a local Mexican seafood restaurant that we have started to love for great Mexican food called La Calle Doce.  We also took Karuna out to a classic Oak Cliff snow cone stand called Aunt Stella’s Snow Cones.  This month has been a busy month for birthdays with Christo celebrating his birthday on the 21st of June and Karuna celebrating her birthday on the 25th of June.  On Friday night we watched the movie Bella together as a way to enjoy our last free weekend together before Christo starts his month of trauma surgery.

Trauma surgery historically has been an extremely long month most interns with plenty of weeks at or above 80 hours a week and a never ending stream of patients.  Keep Melissa and the kids in your prayers as they adjust to not having Christo most of the time for the next month.  We also wanted to put up some pictures from quite a bit ago that Christo had forgotten to put up from our trip to India.  These are pictures from the trip Christo and Melissa made to Kanjangad to visit some more of Christo’s uncles and aunts on his dad’s side.  We are finally starting to get caught up with posting pictures but we still have to put up most of the pictures we have taken in Texas since coming here…hopefully soon.  You can view the slideshow of pictures from Kanjangad by clicking on the link or just click on individual pictures.  Have a blessed weekend.
